Martin Roth
October 2, 1977 – June 14, 2019
Martin Roth was born in Graz in 1977 and grew up in the Austrian federal province of Styria. In 2011 he obtained his Masters at Hunter College in New York City, where he lived until his death in June 2019.
Roth produced numerous installations and interventions both in Europe and in the US. In 2017 Black Dog Press released a publication about his works entitled In the spring of 2017 Martin Roth published a selection of his works.
We will never forget you.

I work with spiders, snails, budgerigars, not as elements from the wilderness or a Caspar David Friedrich painting, but rather elements you might find in a garden or a home.

I find it interesting to work and exhibit in New York – the city itself inspires me. It moves so fast; for instance, the skyline is constantly changing. It means the city is like an ever-evolving organism, growing, with parts that decay and disappear.
